Madden Cards
There are three different value levels of the cards:
Gold (4), Silver (2), and Bronze (1). The cards each serve one
use, except for stadium cards, team cards, and historical players,
which are always active. The other cards are for cheat codes and
boosting player attributes. Gold Cards last for one half of a
game. Sliver Cards last for one quarter. Bronze cards last for
a single play. You earn Madden Cards by purchasing them with Madden
Tokens. Madden Tokens are earned by accomplishing certain feats
during game play. There are five levels of feats to accomplish,
and you get more tokens for the higher difficulty level. To get
Madden Cards you must make sure that Madden Cards are enabled,
either on the profile select screen prior to the game, or on the
options menu.
Collect all 296 cards and the 297th will be John Madden. The card's
value is 2500 points. Sell the card and buy a new pack. You will
receive a John Madden card again. Repeat this until you have as
many points as you wish. 2500 points is worth 25 packs. John Madden
unlocks the Madden Millennium Team, featuring Mike Ditka as tight
end.

Unlimited creation points
Create a player, then go to "Edit Player"
at the roster screen. Press [Up] or [Down] to choose
the player you want to edit. Press [Right] to get to the
speed category. Press [X], then press [X] again.
Cheap 99 ranked players
Go to the edit player screen, highlight "Speed"
and press [X]x2. Rank all of your players as low as they
can be. That way their salary will be around $350,000, depending
on position. Then highlight whatever category you want to edit
and press [X], but do not press [X] a second time. After
you raise the stats to 99, press [Triangle] to exit that
category. Then, move to a new category and do it again. If you
hit [X] a second time, your player's salary will jump back
up. You should raise the "Stamina", "Toughness",
and "Injury" categories to 99 when you are in the screen
where you lower the salary. Otherwise, your players will only
be able to be in one play before being substituted, or will get
bad injuries with almost every play. If everything works out,
you should have about $45 million dollars remaining with a full
55 person roster. Although this does take some time, it is worth
it.
For example, use Keyshawn John. He takes up a lot of cap room
with a $7.00 million salary. To lower that and raise his ratings,
go to the roster section at the main screen. Then go to "Edit
Player" then go to their team and scroll down to the player.
Press [Right] to highlight the "Speed" column.
Press [X] and the editing rating sections will appear. Once
you do one change to his ratings, his salary will be at what he
is really worth and his ratings will be higher.
Easy Madden points
Choose your favorite and least favorite teams. Enter
the rosters screen and select the "Edit Player" option.
Make everyone on your favorite team a perfect 99 points for everything,
then go to you least favorite team's roster and make everyone
on their team the minimum 15 for everything. Save your roster
changes. Repeatedly play in exhibition mode and do your best;
run kickoffs and punts for touchdowns, let yourself get tackled,
and run for 96 yards for a touchdown, etc. This can result in
over 1000 points in a game.
Getting Madden Cards easily
You can get all the cards without playing more than
two or three games. Make two user accounts; one you plan on keeping
and another to just use. Play one or two games with each created
account giving them at least 100 Madden points each. Save each
one and reset the PlayStation2. When you restart, open your Madden
Cards screen, and buy at least a pack of cards for each account.
Trade all the cards you want from your dummy account to your permanent
account. Exit and the game will prompt you to save what you have
done. Answer "OK", and the save screen will appear.
Only save the permanent account. Reset the PlayStation2, buy a
pack with the dummy account and trade again. Once again, only
save the permanent account with the cards. Reset the PlayStation2
and repeat as many times as needed. You should get at least 14
cards each time, and you will be forced to leave one with the
dummy account. Only leave Bronze cards, as these will not stay
in the dummy account and will be lost.
Control title screen
Press [Circle] at the title screen to change the
player picture. Repeat this to view pictures of players from all
thirty one teams.
Always win coin toss
Press [Start] before anything appears on the coin
toss screen.
Always get the onside kick during
kickoff
Turn off the penalty for kicks not over 10 yards. Hold
[Left] and continuously press [X]. Your players will
recover the ball, because it will only travel about 6 yards with
your opponent nowhere near.
When onside kicking, always get the ball by moving the arrow all
the way left and down. Your team will always recover it. By doing
this you can keep the ball the entire game as long as you do not
fumble or throw an interception or a safety.
When kicking, select the normal kickoff, which is [X] where
everybody runs straight downfield. When the red arrow appears,
hold [Up] until it stops, then press [Right] until it
stops. Kick the ball full power and the spot you kick it to is
played by a back-up offensive tackle. He will drop it (most of
the time). Immediately after kicking the ball, press [X]
to turn into the outermost man on the kickoff and hold down [Circle]
until you reach the ball. You will pick it up and it is all yours.
Get the ball back easily
Select "On-Side Kick" on the play screen.
Then, press [Start]. Go to "Settings" and turn
penalties off. Next, resume game play and get the arrow as far
back as it can go and turn it to your side. Do not press [X]
two times. Press [X] once and select one of your players
that are closest to the ball. You should get the ball back. This
works about 98% of the time.
Challenging a play
You cannot challenge a play on your own. On very rare
occasions you will be asked after a play if you would like to
challenge a questionable call. It is usually due to a player running
out of bounds.
Block punts
Select "Punt Block", then move three men
over to the left. starting with the first man to the right of
the center until the end man is not lined up on the safety any
more. If done correctly, the three men moved should be blocked
on the left end, and the SS and the RB/FB should run in unblocked
to stop the punter before he kicks the ball. Select the SS and
run at the punter as fast as possible when the ball is snapped.
Substitute a fast SS on defensive subs on the punt block play.
Take your right end to the left and your safety to the right.
The running back will pick up the safety and the end will block
the punt.
Easy sacks
Move your right end to the left side between your left
end and left D. Move your right DT in front of the center. Almost
every time a pass is thrown, the end will break through and get
a sack.
The following fairly easy trick works 99% of the time. At the
play selection screen, scroll to the goal line plays. Select the
category, then select Blitz B (no other blitz play will work).
Wait for the snap keep pressing [Down] + [Circle].
Use the following trick to average about three to six sacks per
game. Take your middle linebacker or your fastest DB and put them
in the hole of DT and END. Make sure you are not on the line of
scrimmage or the tackle and tight end will block you. Hold [Circle]
and move to the quarterback. This usually only works on singleback
or the shotgun plays.
Easy two-point conversion
After scoring a touchdown choose "Fake FG - Run"
as your next play. After hiking the ball, run the receiver right
and progressively upwards -- make sure you keep wide of the players
on the opposing team. You should be able to make the two-point
conversion every time.
The following trick works about 95% of the time. It will not work
if your receiver does not catch the ball. Put your best receiver
as Receiver 3 instead of Receiver 1. Make sure that the play calling
screen is on the player's faces. Go to the Receiver 3 category,
then go down until you find the Screen Pass. Once you snap the
ball, press [X] to throw it quickly. Make sure you do not
let your play go out of bounds.
Knock down people on sidelines
At the start of a play, run towards one of the sidelines
and go slightly out of bounds. When the play begins, run up and
down the sideline. After the play has finished, go to "Instant
Replay". Go to the appropriate sideline and watch the player
you controlled. Sometimes you will knock over the coaches and
the people carrying the fist down markers.
Lambeau Leap
Play as the Green Bay Packers at home and run a touchdown.
The players will eventually do the Lambeau Leap.
All-Madden difficulty setting
On the All-Madden difficulty, the CPU intercepts passes
very easily. To avoid getting your passes tipped or picked off,
throw short passes and pop passes (passes that are thrown almost
suddenly after the ball is hiked). Long (Da Bomb) passes will
only work occasionally, but will usually get picked off.
Locker room entrance
When your opponent is kicking a field goal, select
a player and run back to the wall and into the locker room entrance.
Bypass Leslie Visser commentary
Press "Star" when she starts talking, then press
[Start] again. You will continue your game, and Leslie will
not give her report.
